The Central Govt. has launched the PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana through which residential customers (Individual homeowners) can install solar rooftop system on their premises and avail the subsidy (or Central Financial Assistance – CFA) directly from the Central Government. To facilitate this scheme, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has developed a ‘National Portal (NP)’ for the registration of applications. The whole process from submission of application to the release of subsidy/CFA would be implemented in online mode through this portal. The portal can be accessed through the link https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
HOW MUCH IS THE SUBSIDY?
1. Below is the PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
2. Subsidy for residential households
-Rs. 30,000/- per kW up to 2 kW
-Rs. 18,000/- per kW for additional capacity up to 3 kW
-Total Subsidy for systems larger than 3 kW capped at Rs 78,000
3. Suitable Rooftop Solar Plant Capacity for household
4. Subsidy for Group Housing Society/ Resident Welfare Association(GHS/RWA)
5. Rs. 18,000 per kW for common facilities, including EV charging, up to 500 kW capacity (@3 kW per house) with the upper limit being inclusive of individual rooftop plants installed by individual residents in the GHS/RWA.
Online Applications may be submitted on the National Portal athttps://pmsuryaghar.gov.in
The subsidy would be calculated on the basis of total solar module capacity/solar inverter capacity/capacity approved by DISCOM, whichever is lower. For example, if solar module capacity is 2.4kWp and solar inverter capacity is 3kW, the subsidy would be calculated on 2.4kW since it is the lowest. So, subsidy would be (2 x 30,000) +(0.4 x 18,000) = Rs 67,200.
Highlights Of The Scheme
1. The homeowner has the freedom to choose the vendor.
2. Only panels under ALMM (Approved List of Models & Manufacturers) can be used in the project to avail subsidy. These panels are domestically manufactured and have domestically manufactured cells and are registered with Government of India.
3. The subsidy shall be transferred directly to the homeowner’s account after system installation and inspection by the concerned Distribution Company (DISCOM).
